Beat Brawl - Formats - Modular Asset Creation & AI-Assisted Dev

This project explores the use of generative AI as a visual development tool, starting from hand-drawn character sketches and orthographic prop views. The goal was to evaluate how AI can support the transition from rough concepts to presentation-quality renders while preserving design intent. In addition to character and prop visualization, the study explores the generation of isolated production assets such as FX, particles, lighting elements, decorative details, and compositing layers through highly specific art direction prompts.
Rather than replacing traditional workflows, this experiment investigates how AI can accelerate concept development, reduce reference-search time, and expand creative possibilities within a hybrid sketch, rendering, and compositing pipeline.

Production Notes

While AI-assisted generation accelerated the visual development process, several elements required manual art direction and correction to maintain fidelity to the original concept. Adjustments included guitar replacement, hand positioning refinements, pose corrections, and additional compositing work.
Generated effects and supporting assets were integrated manually through photobashing and layer-based compositing workflows. AI-assisted FX generation proved particularly valuable for creating particles, lighting accents, and decorative elements that would otherwise require extensive searches for highly specific photographic references.
The ability to generate custom effects on demand helped reduce reference-gathering time and enabled faster visual iteration while preserving artistic control over the final composition.
