This portrait is intended to represent the mixed origins of Micaela Bastidas, who was not only originally from the Andes of Peru, but also an Afro-descendant. Different sources mention her particular beauty, as well as her slender build and her combative character. Her acuity, intelligence and her strategic participation during the rebellion, were relegated and little mentioned throughout history. She was only 36 years old at the time of her execution.
